fourth of july rally in the alley!

what a fun fourth in our new city!

we spent it hanging out with our new friends, celebrating one of the chef’s few and far between days off from the hospital. we played a lot of slammo in the alley, and drank a lot of natty boh, because, well, now that we’re in baltimore, you just have to.

if you’ve never played slammo / spikeball, you really need to buy a set. it’s the most fun game. think: rules of volleyball, only instead of hitting it over the net you have to hit the ball into the trampoline. and there are no designated “sides”.

we had a progression dinner with some of our new alley neighbors. have you ever been to one of those? every house serves a different part of the meal.

we started with oysters on the half shell. the chef got the oysters and i made mignonettes and we shucked them in the back yard. raw oysters may be one of my top 10 favorite foods.

another house did crabs. it is maryland, afterall.

my only regret is the lack of water. there was a LOT of old bay in my life on the fourth. so. much. salt.

here’s a short video. wish i would have shot more!
