hi sweet girl!
man, you’re precious. if you could sleep later than 7 am that’d be great, but otherwise, you’re a true gem of a baby. you’ve been sleeping through the night for a couple months now and that is sooo amazing. so i’ll take what i can get ;).
by far, this was the best christmas. mila’s first! she loved the tree and the ornaments; she even loved ripping open the paper on her presents.
it’s been filter four outside for nearly a week now! you know, filter four? the last filter on your betacam for the most bright natural light? the one you only use a couple times a year!? my goodness. where are my sunglasses?! snow everywhere. so much white! excuse the super hot photo, but these two are just too cute.
at least it’s starting to warm up?
still can’t park in our neighborhood, but thanks to some incredible neighborly effort, we’ve managed to dig snow tunnels on the sidewalk so people can at least get outside. our little mochi loves running through them!
do not, i repeat, do not even think about parking in a spot you didn’t dig out in baltimore. in fact, don’t even drive by a spot you didn’t dig out. and if a dug out space has a chair in it… or a table… a walker… even stick in a bucket: just turn around. around here it’s every man for himself!
we’ve never seen so much snow. pretty big words coming from a girl who grew up in the mountains of appalachia and a chef who’s from colorado! this baltimore blizzard brought in nearly 30 inches of snow in less than 24 hours. it snowed so much, so quickly i could hardly see across the alley to our neighbor’s house. saturday night was so wild, the city made it illegal to drive, which meant the chef couldn’t come home from work and had to sleep in a patient room at the hospital! when the chef finally made it home from work sunday morning, we had to spend an hour digging out a place for him to park. it was treacherous… and a little funny. ; )
captain’s log. day six. woke up to several more inches of snow. currently raining sleet. our world is expected to be covered in a thick layer of ice by night. the chef finally put the snow to good use with a recipe that’s so easy there are only two ingredients: 100% maple syrup and snow.
we’ve lived in a snow globe for the last five days. we’re teetering on a foot of snow, with six to eight more inches coming in the morning. it’s 50 degrees below freezing. “brrrr” doesn’t even begin to cover it.
while normally, i wouldn’t get near the door at a time like this — our little mochi loves it!
